The Failure of the Terminal Transportation Policy for the City of Padang, West Sumatra

This research is motivated by the existence of transportation policies that occur in the Padang City terminal, West Sumatra. Transportation is considered as an integral part of people's lives. The strategic location of West Sumatra in land transportation causes the community's need for a terminal to be important. The construction of the Padang Industrial Park (PIP) and the construction of the Bingkuang Regional Terminal (BRT) in Ale Pacah which until now have not been optimally utilized by investors and the general public. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes and efforts to optimize the Bingkuang Regional Terminal (BRT) in the city of Padang. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach. The results of this study, the failure of the BRT terminal, tended to be caused by the Padang City government failing to carry out all the obligations mandated in the revision of the City Spatial General Plan (CSGP) and decisions issued by the mayor. In conclusion, the Padang City Government in the future, must carry out what has been determined in the form of Regional Regulations, Master Plans, CSGP and Long Term Development Plans (LTDP).
